Jorge Alexandre Almeida

Jorge Almeida received the Geographic Engineering Diploma and the MSc degree in Information Systems from the University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal, in 1992 and 2000, respectively. In 2016, he received the Specialist Diploma in Information Systems. He received the titles of Senior (2017) and Specialist (2018) from the Portuguese Engineers Association. He worked as a researcher in the Royal Observatory of Belgium (1993). He was an Army Officer (1994) and Assistant Lecturer in Beja Polytechnic Institute, Beja, Portugal, from 1996 to 2001. Since 2001, he has been with the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal, where he is currently an Adjunct Professor (ISEC). He also worked in private companies as consultant and technical director. His teaching interests cover: Information Systems, Geographical Information Systems, Programming, Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning. Currently, he is mainly focused on the analysis and development of wind turbines predictive maintenance tools & software using AI and other techniques.
